Terri Hooley will present his last ever Hooley’s Hootenanny on New Year’s Eve, 2019.
He’ll be playing records at the Oh Yeah Music Centre, Belfast, rocking into the New Year with his legendary wit, humanity and fine company. Terri started DJing at the age of 13 in church halls in east Belfast. His Hootenanny will take place a week after his 71st birthday. That’s 58 years of singular joy. “I’d rather go out with a bit of a bang than just fade,” he says. “when there’s a big crowd and everybody’s having a good time, and you’re bouncing about the stage like a three year old – it’s just an amazing feeling”
The Hootenanny will also be the start of the Goodbye Vibrations Tour 2020. Terri will say his farewells to the Irish music scene with 20 DJ nights across the year in various Irish locations. This will be a victory lap for the man whose life and achievements were celebrated in Good Vibrations, the film and then the sold-out stage play at the Lyric Theatre.
Don’t miss your chance to see the man in his natural habit, surrounded by great tunes, playing the soundtrack to a remarkable, intoxicating life. “It’s the greatest drug in the world for me!” he confesses.
