Music Photography Workshops

Music through the lens.
Photography plays an important part in documenting our lives, a great photograph can stir up all kinds of emotions, reactions, and memories. In music, pictures have provided us with some of the most revealing, inspired, interesting, imaginative, and iconic moments in the lives and works of our musical heroes. From capturing the energy of a live concert, to the intensity of an artist, or the personality of a band, photographs have played a key role in defining a moment.
Music Photography is in the fabric of Oh Yeah, the 20/20 Photography Exhibition, and the numerous iconic images displayed in the Music Exhibition, breath life into the walls of the Centre. They are images that document the creativity, passion, and success stories of NI Music, from Van Morrison to Snow Patrol, Ash and Two Door Cinema Club, they have all been brilliantly captured by some exceptional photographers based in Northern Ireland.
Workshops.
In keeping with the spirit of encouraging and celebrating local music photography, Oh Yeah have designed a series of workshops, for a range of abilities, geared towards live music and band photography.
The workshops, developed and delivered by professional Photographer, Carrie Davenport, whose work has featured in the likes of Kerrang, Hotpress, and AU Magazine, run throughout the year, and vary from beginners to advanced.
All introductory workshops cover the basics of photography including camera modes, exposure settings, preparing your camera, and taking live and promo band shots.
All workshops are mostly practical, and include a studio lit photo shoot with a local band, allowing participants to practise posing and lighting using flash and studio lights. Basic tips on photoshop also included. Some courses include photo passes to upcoming Oh Yeah gigs.
